Living with parasites
The theme of ICOPAnhagen, “Living with Parasites”, encompasses the numerous aspects of parasitology. “Living with Parasites” tells the stories of battling against devastating diseases caused by parasites as well as the stories of beneficial effects of hosting parasites, and the intriguing interactions between hosts and parasites shaping the evolution of both. “Living with Parasites” spans from the molecular and cellular level to host organisms and all the way to the environment that we share. “Living with Parasites” illustrates our appreciation for the history while looking into the future, emphasizes the need of sustainable control strategies and the challenges and effects of eradication, and brings parasitology closer to every-day life.
